An incredibly versatile and highly valuable skin care product, which has long been called African gold because shea butter is a gift of nature for medicine, food and cosmetics for people in Africa. This is the reason why Africans consider shea butter a sacred tree: it cannot be cut and only women can touch the ripe nuts. Shea butter is extracted from African shea nuts, in a traditional way, by hand. The unrefined oil is yellowish in color, with a specific slightly pungent nut aroma and firm consistency. It is rich in fatty acids, vitamins A and E, linolenic acid, which help to retain moisture in the superficial layers of the skin, and phytosterols, which protect the skin from environmental factors, activate blood circulation and reduce inflammation. Shea butter is an ideal nourishing and soothing agent for all skin types, especially dry, sensitive, inflamed skin. Suitable for the whole family, even for the most sensitive skin of babies and children. Completely safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
How to use:
- Warm (rub) a piece of shea butter between your fingers and apply to the skin as needed: everywhere where it is dry, itchy, red, peeled, cracked, etc. Shea butter is suitable to use anywhere and anytime! Especially recommended for dry and cracked skin of elbows, knees, feet, lips, dry areas on calves, abdomen, arms, face, etc.
- Shea butter is especially suitable for the care of inflamed, eczema prone, psoriasis affected skin.
- Apply shea butter on cracked corners of the lips. As often as you can. Vitamins A and E do wonders, so cracks heal very quickly!
- Apply shea butter on dried and cracked cuticles, exfoliating nails every evening – results will amaze you and you won’t have to wait long to see the results!
- Shea butter is an excellent decongestant (nasal congestion, breathing relief). The nose is often swollen from dry air (especially during the summer season when there is no rain), as well as due to increased fluid in the body (during pregnancy) or due to a variety of respiratory infections. Shea butter perfectly nourishes, moisturizes, protects the nasal mucosa and effectively facilitates breathing. Wrap a cotton bud (you can also use a finger) in shea butter and lubricate nostrils several times a day. This procedure is especially recommended for newborn babies who snore even if they don’t have a runny nose. Shea butter instantly eliminates this problem!
- If the skin of your hands or feet is cracked, make a nighttime mask. Apply a generous amount of shea butter on the skin, wrap it in a plastic bag or cling film and leave it overnight. In the morning, the skin will be nourished, soft and velvety! Shea butter is also suitable for daily skin care of the hands and feet (instead of hand or foot cream). Apply shea butter to the split ends of your hair and leave it overnight. Wash in the morning as normal. By repeating this procedure 2 to 3 times a week, you will forget all about split ends!
- During the cold season, shea butter is a great protective agent for sensitive face, hands, lips, ears and so on. Apply warmed shea butter with your fingers on dry skin just before going outside. Shea butter perfectly treats skin blemishes and frostbites.
- Shea butter creates an excellent barrier on the surface of the skin, so it can be used to prevent nappy rash and abrasions. Apply a thin layer of shea butter on the dry skin of your baby’s bottom to protect it from irritation caused by moisture and heat in diapers. If the bum has a rash, redness and is irritated, first rinse the bum well with water, spray generously with lavender floral water and then apply a layer of shea butter. It will help to reduce redness, inflammation and itching.
- When removing the baby’s cradle cap, apply a thick layer of shea butter oil on the skin, leave it for 20 to 30 minutes. If you feel the need, you can put on a thin cotton hat. Then gently comb the hair and scalp with a soft baby-friendly fiber brush or comb until the peel gradually peels off the scalp. Wash the scalp with a mild shampoo. If the skin is red – soothe it with lavender flower water.
- Shea butter promotes collagen synthesis and increases skin elasticity, so it can be used to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Apply a thin layer on damp skin immediately after a bath or shower.
- Shea butter is ideal for nipple care during breastfeeding. Apply on skin as needed, wash before nursing a baby.
- Shea butter has regenerating and lightening properties on the skin. Apply on pigmented blemishes, massage scars. To enhance the effect, add few drops of our essential oil blend Sweet Dreams! With patience, this method can really help you to achieve great results!
- If body or facial skin is irritated after depilation or shaving, spray well with lavender floral water or our special floral water blend Skin Soother and apply a thin layer of shea butter.
- Shea butter amazingly restores skin function and balance after sunburn! After the acute phase (when the skin is hot and red) apply a thin layer of shea butter – to reduce itchiness and peeling process of the skin.
- Since shea butter has anti-inflammatory properties and melts easily, it has been found to be great in reducing joint pain! Massage sore areas of the body several times a day. To enhance the effect, we recommend adding a few drops of lavender and chamomile essential oils to the shea butter.
- Shea butter reduces itching when bitten by an insect. Apply affected areas several times a day.
- Even if it is extremely oily and thick in texture, shea butter is great for facial skin care. It is especially loved by people with mature and very dry skin. The anti-wrinkle, skin rejuvenating and regenerating properties of shea butter are widely described in literature. Thanks to oleic and linolenic fatty acids, shea butter is perfectly absorbed into the skin and does not block pores. Before applying shea butter on the skin, it must be moistened first with floral water.
- Sometimes shea butter is especially suitable for babies and children with atopic dermatitis. Still, it should not be forgotten that shea butter is extracted from nuts, and these are not always suitable for children with allergies. Try to nourish a small area of atopic dermatitis damaged skin with a thin layer of shea butter and keep an eye if the procedure causes any kind of side effects. Bear in mind that shea butter is an effective anti-inflammatory product, and atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease, so if you are not allergic to shea butter, it is likely to give great results! If you decide to use shea butter for the care of atopic skin, remember to apply it on moist skin immediately after a bath or shower, make sure to wash and moisturize the skin again before the next application! The layering effect of any fatty oils on the skin eventually will make it worse!
